God's Plan of Salvation
At Bible Believers Baptist Church, we believe in God's Plan of Salvation, as detailed in his word, as the only way for a person to get into heaven. The Bible lays out God's glorious salvation clearly, and calls unto all of us to put our faith and trust in him.
-Know that you are a sinner
The Bible states clearly that to be able to accept God's gift of salvation we must acknowledge the fact that we have need of a savior. The Bible says:
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
The Bible here says that we are all sinners in the eyes of a holy and rightous God. All have committed sin, and though many try to justify their sin by comparing themselves among themselves, in comparison to a perfect God we are all sinners.
-Realize the punishment for sin
After we understand that we are a sinner, then we must understand the consequences for our sin. The Bible says:
Romans 6:23a
For the wages of sin is death;
This passage of scripture tells us clearly that the wage, or payment that we get for our sin is death. This death is an eternal death. The Bible says
John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
-Understand God's gift
Romans 6:23b
But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Through this passage of Scripture we understand that eternal life comes only through Jesus Christ, the savior of the world. The Bible explains that Jesus Christ, who was God, took on the form of a man and dwelt among us. He offered his life freely so that those who believe on him may have eternal life. The Bible says:
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Jesus Christ arose from the grave, defeating death, thus inviting all to come unto him for eternal life.
-Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
After you understand the wonderful gift that God has offered to you, then the only thing you must do is tell God that you accept it. The Bible says:
Acts 16:31
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:9-10,13
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
All we must do to accept God's wonderful gift of everlasting life is to "call upon the name of the Lord."
God will listen to you no matter who you are or where you are. There is no magic prayer that gets a person into heaven; it has nothing to do with what you say, but it has everything to do with what is in your heart. If you truly believe in God's plan of salvation and want to accept Jesus Christ into your life, then in your own words tell God the following:
Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, please forgive me of my sins, and come into my heart and save me, Amen.
If you have prayed to God, accepting Christ with a believing heart, then God has saved you. God's Word states that you will have eternal life, that you can never lose. The Bible says:
I John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
